Dominique Emond was born in Willowdale, Ontario in 1971 and was raised in Montreal, Quebec. He began his training in karate in the mid 80s. Before he was able to complete his training, his family moved to another part of Montreal. His interest in martial arts was re-ignited in 1992 after seeing the movie Rapid Fire, starring the late Brandon Lee. Dominique's fascination with the effectiveness of Kung Fu led him to the door of Lorne Bernard; Sifu of Shaolin White Crane Kung Fu in Montreal, Quebec. Dominique trained there for almost 3 years while he finished his Bachelor of Computer Science degree at Concordia University. A job offer in Toronto, Ontario forced Dominique to cut short his training once again.

In the spring of 1994, walking around the city of Toronto, searching for a Kung Fu school, Dominique stumbled upon a Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu run by Sifu Sean O'Neil. After taking an introductory class, Dominique knew that Traditional Wing Chun would be the style of Kung Fu he would stay with for life.

Dominique trained diligently under Sifu Sean O'Neil, and achieved assistant-Sifu status in 2000. In January 2001 however, Sifu O'Neil suffered a family tragedy and announced he was moving away and would no longer be teaching.

Sad for Sifu O'Neil, but unwilling to lose the opportunity to continue learning Traditional Wing Chun, Dominique sought out a person that Sifu O'Neil had spoken about with tremendous respect, Master Joe Sayah; direct student of GrandMaster William Cheung.

Master Joe Sayah took Dominique on as one of his students and, on August 29th, 2001 , Dominique Emond became a certified instructor in Grandmaster William Cheung's World Wing Chun Association.

Sifu Dominique has been training hard under the guidance of Master Joe for over 15 years; making several trips to California and Australia, and hosting many seminars with Master Joe in Canada.

On July 1, 2002 , Sifu Dominique Emond obtained his Level 10 Gold sash

On May 9, 2004 , Sifu Dominique Emond obtained his Provisional Master Level I sash

UPDATE:

Sifu Dominique Emond is now training in Wing Chun exclusively under the guidance and direction of Master Joseph Sayah.

On July 1st, 2006, Sifu Dominique Emond completed the 100-Day Iron Palm Training program.

On January 10, 2009, Sifu Dominique Emond returned from a 3 week trip to Mornington, Australia where he trained intensely with Master Joseph Sayah and Sifu Mandy Sayah.

On June 27, 2011 , Sifu Dominique Emond obtained his Provisional Master Level 2 sash

On April 10, 2016, Sifu Dominique Emond obtained his Provisional Master Level 3 and 4 sashes (Levels 13 & 14)
